Country Singer Wayne Mills Fatally Shot

Tragedy struck the country music after the George Jones tribute concert in Nashville, Tennessee.

44-year old Wayne Mills was shot in the head at a downtown bar. Mills was a member of the Wayne Mills Band.

According to police, an argument began around 5a.m. between Mills and the bar owner at Pit and Barrel, located on 2nd Avenue South.

Bar owner Chris Michael Ferrell, 44, claims he shot Mills in self defense.

Police say Mills and Ferrell were inside the bar with friends before the argument began.

According to Wayne Mills' friend, Michael Scott- the argument started over Chris Michael Ferrell's objection to Mills smoking in a non-smoking area.

Others in the group reported hearing gunshots once they went outside during the argument.

Mills was rushed to Vanderbilt Medical Center, but later died from his injuries.

Michael Scott still can't believe the turn of events that happened at the Pit and Barrel when they left the George Jones tribute concert on Friday night.

Ferrell has a valid handgun carry permit. The investigation is ongoing.
