Lou Reed Dead At 71

Legendary musician Lou Reed has died, Rolling Stone reported on Sunday.
He was 71.

The Guardian confirmed the report, citing Reed's agent. BBC also confirmed the report.
His exact cause of death was not immediately revealed, but the AP said it was a "liver-related ailment."

Earlier this year, he received a life-saving liver transplant after experiencing chronic liver failure. Reed was open about his addiction to drugs and alcohol in his music. He'd been sober for decades, but his past drug use took a heavy toll on his body. In "Heroin," he wrote: “Heroin, be the death of me/Heroin, it’s my wife and it’s my life.”

Reed is best known for his work as guitarist, singer and songwriter for the Velvet Underground, and his solo career. Reed had a profound impact on American culture, introducing avant garde rock and pop art to mainstream music. His work with Andy Warhol is noted as one of the most important collaborations in contemporary culture.

Though the Velvet Underground saw limited commercial success in the 60s, their popularity grew tremendously in the subsequent decades. Rolling Stone named their eponymous album the 13th greatest of all time and in 1996, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Reed's best known songs include I'm Waiting for the Man, Satellite of Love, Heroin, Perfect Day, Pale Blue Eyes and Walk on the Wild Side.

Born in Brooklyn in 1942, Reed spent most of his childhood on Long Island. Reed identified as bisexual and received electroshock therapy as a teenager.

He married artist Laurie Anderson in 2008.

Many of Reed's fans and friends took to Twitter to express grief over his passing.

"My friend Lou Reed came to the end of his song," said author Salman Rushdie. "So very sad.But hey, Lou, you'll always take a walk on the wild side. Always a perfect day."

"R.I.P. Lou Reed. Walk on the peaceful side," said The Who.

Chris Brown Arrested In Washington D.C. For Felony Assault

Chris Brown has been arrested in Washington, D.C. after brawling with a man outside of the W Hotel.

Allegedly Brown was checking out of the W Hotel when he was approached by two female fans requesting to take a picture with the singer. Brown then agreed to pose for photos with the fans, but the jovial atmosphere quickly turned sour when two uninvited men tried to include themselves in the photo without Brown's approval.

Brown then proceeded to tell the two men: "I'm not into this gay sh*t, I'm into boxing."

Without warning, Brown allegedly punched one of the men to the jaw before grappling on the ground. Police then arrived on the scene and arrested Brown and his bodyguard around 4:30 this morning.

Brown is being held without bond because of his probation stemming from assaulting then girlfriend, Rihanna in 2009.

Freeway Ricky Ross Says Jay Z's Drug Dealing Past Is Fake & Rapper Rick Ross Is Being Funded By Police Unions "He Ain't Selling No Music But They Keep Putting Out Expensive Videos" [Audio]

It's no secret that Jay Z has been rapping verses about selling drugs for years, but former drug kingpin Freeway Ricky Ross disagrees as to the truth of Hov's lyrics, going on to state that they're actually made up.
What set Freeway Ricky Ross off on his latest tirade was reading Jay's Vanity Fair interview with Lisa Robinson in which he spoke on his drug dealing past.

“I know about budgets. I was a drug dealer,” he told Robinson. “To be in a drug deal, you need to know what you can spend, what you need to re-up. Or if you want to start some sort of barbershop or car wash—those were the businesses back then. Things you can get in easily to get out of [that] life. At some point, you have to have an exit strategy, because your window is very small; you’re going to get locked up or you’re going to die.”

Freeway Ricky, who ran a multi-million dollar drug empire in the late 80's before getting busted called Hov out during a new interview with the Murder Master Music Show,
"I've been hitting these high schools up letting them know about these dudes that's out here faking. Talking about they sold dope. And you read that sh*t and it's so corny,"Ross said. "I was just reading on the airplane the other day the Vanity Fair with Jay Z in it, talking about he sold crack. Just reading that story was so corny. These dudes don't keep it 100. They was good boys and went to school and got college degrees. Somebody gave them a good job and they're doing alright right now. Everybody wanna be d-boys, but they don't have real d-boy stories. When you read what they said it looks like a news reporter wrote it for them."

Freeway Ricky was even more harsh in his assessment of rapper Rick Ross.
I believe [rapper Ross] is being financed by the police unions to keep spreading bullsh*t to the youngsters, so they can keep filling up the penitentiaries ," Freeway continued."Because he ain't selling no music. They keep playing him on the radio and keep putting out these big expensive videos, but he ain't selling no music. So somebody is sh*tting off money. I believe it's the police unions behind it."
